Cello.

After a full course at the Arras Conservatory in the class of Pierre Champagne, a year at the CNR of Aubervilliers with Florian Lauridon, Fabrice Bihan continued his studies at the CNSMD of Lyon in the class of Jean Deplace where he will obtain his diploma with the congratulations of the jury. He also obtained a diploma in sonata with piano at the CNSMD in Lyon before perfecting his skills with Xavier Gagnepain in Boulogne-Billancourt, Stephan Fork in Berlin and receiving regular advice from cellists such as Yo-yo Ma, Jérôme Pernoo, Anner Bylsma . He studied conducting with François-Xavier Bilger in Reims then Jordy Mora, disciple of Celibidache, in Barcelona. It was his turn to pass on the teaching of the cello to the Regional Conservatory of Lyon, taking over from Patrick Gabard in January 2015.

Chamber cellist, Fabrice Bihan, member of the Debussy Quartet from 2010 to 2014 (Victoire de la Musique, first prize at Evian, etc.) now rubs shoulders with many different artists on stage. Continuing his musical experiments, he is also in 2015 the investigator of a "musical company" called "Henri" from which the Quatuor Henri is also extracted. Henri means home, home. It is a house of artists, the time of work residencies, research and exchange with the public on different themes from which will result either a recording or a particular artistic proposal or a creation.

He also likes to navigate between the chapels of the "baroque", the "modern", the "improvisers", the "jazzmen"... He continues his ten-year collaboration with the accordionist Philippe Bourlois and their project "Buenos Imagin'Air" between popular music, improvisation and views of today. He is also a member of a collective of artists, the D8, led by the actor Sylvain Stawsky which gave birth in 2014 to 2 shows, one in duet around Prevert and Cosma, the other "I was born under a lucky star" around the roms and Kodaly's sonata for solo cello. In addition, in March 2015, he created a duet on Bach's Suites with David Rodriges, a Hip-Hop dancer.

Always in this quest for transmission in all its forms, he organizes the festival "Les Inouies" which he created in 2006 in Arras, with an adjacent academy, workshops for all and an artists' residence.

He regularly collaborates with composers such as Marc Mellits, Thierry Escaich, Oscar Strasnoy, Philippe Hersant, Vincent Paulet, Kaija Saariaho, Alexandros Markeas, Thomas Adès or even F.Krawczyck, J.Rohrer, A.Cassar, E.Daubresse, G Grisey, O. Pennard, R. Dubugnon, V. Wimart, J. Harvey, N. Bacri… In 2011 he created 12 compositions by different composers in homage to Henri Dutilleux, the subject of a disc due for release in April 2015.

“At a very young age, Fabrice Bihan was noticed as a complete artist who never stopped evolving in his approach. His ample sonority, his feeling and his reflection show us an artist of great race” (The letter from the musician, 2002).

In terms of discography, we can find: Beethoven trio and Mozart quartet Young performers Radio France, "Music at 1, 2 or 3" around Philippe Hersant, "From one world to another" by quartet Itinérance, " Around west side" by the Reynaert Quartet (jazz), "Filiation" in cello alone under the Quantum label, "Box" with the Debussy quartet, "Buenos imagin'air" Between scholar and popular, Brahms sonatas with Antoine De Grolée , Schubert/Janacek by the Quatuor Debussy, Debussy/Caplet with Marielle Nordmann for Timpani, Octuorissimo in octet with the Quatuor Arranoa, 2 discs of cello music by Anthony Girard for Naxos, chamber music by Olivier Penard…
