MARTIN BDM

Bio

Martin BdM (juggling / manipulations, ukulele) is a juggler, dancer and acrobat graduated from ESAC (Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque) in Brussels. He previously trained in the circus schools of Lyon, Lomme and Moscow. From his encounter with various artists and teachers (Thierry André, Philippe Wande Wege, Olivier Burlaud, Stefan Sing) he cultivates a personal, physical style of juggling, imbued with dance and acrobatics. In 2010, he created the number Contretemps, a tongue-in-cheek mix of juggling and manipulation of objects where objects manipulate the juggler.

From this number comes Jonglele, a small 20-minute form where balls and ukuleles meet, intersect in the air, play music, where the hero sings and tries somehow not to let himself be overtaken by the events. He is also co-creator and performer with Juliette Hulot of the duo Greg & Natacha where two shock bankers juggle pink balls while struggling to restrain their mutual feelings. The idea of using juggling as a mode of musical expression came to him during an internship at the Stockholm circus school with the American juggler Jay Gillighan.
